Easy ways to help build progressive power

It's more about consistent effort than heavy-lifting.

Sign the latest petition! (Click HERE to go to Mini-Campaigns)

These petitions are an opportunity to send a message to our local elected officials, and are MCPAN's main tool for power-building. As more folks sign on a regular basis, progressive power becomes more engaged with our local elected officials, ensuring it's there when it's needed: for major campaigns and during elections. These petitions are also an opportunity to express real progressive values, an number far greater than the few, hot-button, emotional issues that are used by the opposition to dominate the discourse and obstruct change. By competing at the issues level, we will ultimately prevail, because progressive platforms represent real benefits to people and planet.

Allowlist MCPAN emails

MCPAN uses MailChimp to send out alerts and announcements. Be sure to allowlist (also called "whitelist") that email to keep it out of spam. Consistency of effort is critical here, so it's important for everyone to keep sending messages to our local elected officials by regularly signing petitions on progressive issues.

Share the petitions!

This is how the movement grows. As of this writing, MCPAN has about 550 subscribers. Many local elections are won with 1500 or less votes total. If every subscriber is at the ready to elect progressives when elections come along, campaigns for progressive candidates will have a solid foundation upon which to much more easily and effectively realize success.

For those who want to help even more:

Decentralized Effort: Table at your Favorite Store

While the core of this effort is digital campaigns, on-the-ground effort is always helpful, both for getting signatures and getting exposure. Every mini-campaign will also have available a hard-copy petition for tabling or signature gathering. If you feel so inclined, you may print petitions out and put up a table at a local store ("old-skool" organizers would use ironing boards for this, but any table or clipboard will do). The petitions also have a QR code, which allows folks to scan it with their smartphone and sign on line (which makes databasing much easier!). When you've gathered signatures, just fill out the bottom and write MCPAN's general email address to arrange pickup.

Put up a sign at your home or place of business

Putting up signs is an easy way to direct people to this website, where they'll find active mini-campaigns, information on current elected officials, and (when the time comes) information and resources on candidates. Because MCPAN is an ongoing effort, MCPAN signs won't fall under the same requirements that signs for a specific election do. It's just exercising your right to free speech and sharing information!
