Mini-Campaigns
Mini-campaigns drive MCPAN's work. Sometimes they become macro-campaigns.

This campaign, assembled with the help of the Solar Rights Alliance, asks our local elected officials to take a stand and take action on PG&E's attempt to leverage the California Public Utilities Commission against rooftop solar. The petition asks our local elected officials to Pledge to Protect Solar with a specific set of actions: passing resolutions and sending letters. These actions must be taken by mid-January, according to the Solar Rights Alliance.
Please sign the online petition linked below. Pre-Website (MCPAN.net) Mini-Campaigns
These efforts were part of the somewhat experimental development process of MCPAN, and I was trying to figure out how to dovetail into other efforts and/or take on my own. The most traditional campaign was that with MendoCoast BIPOC after George Floyd's murder, which resulted in the formation of the Fort Bragg Name Change Task Force.
2021-07: Rescue Act Funds
98 online signatures (not counting the ones GRI collected in hard-copy). In support of the Grassroots Institute's campaign. Positive B.O.S. responses. No action from F.B. City Council.
VICTORY! 2021-04: Formula/Chain Retail Ordinance for Fort Bragg
105 signatures (all online). In support of the creation of an ordinance. https://www.advocate-news.com/2021/06/28/council-approves-formula-business-ordinance-suggestions/
2021-01: Denounce 1/6 Insurrection
93 online signatures. Sent to FB City Council and FBUSD Board of Trustees. No action taken.
VICTORY! 2020-06: Name Change Task Force (with MendoCoast BIPOC)
54 unique hard-copy signatures, and 781 low-grade online petition service signatures. With an organized march on City Call, this resulted in the formation of the Task Force through by City of Fort Bragg.
VICTORY! 2019-09: Reject Autozone (with a local business)
~200 hard-copy signatures. Resulted in rejection of Autozone and beginning of Formula/Chain Retail Ordinance development.
2019-09: Denounce Trump and Acknowledge Climate Change (for Climate Strike)
176 hard-copy signatures gathered mostly during the Climate Strike.
"When used properly, petitions are very powerful, and collecting signatures is a good organization-builder as well."
